The digital environment has profoundly affected the cultural and creative sector, not only in regards with the whole value chain but also in terms of international trade and cooperation. Culture in EU external trade: Towards Stronger Digital Cultural Cooperation (cS Brief #11 2021) analyses the interconnectedness between culture, digitalisation and international trade with the aim of reinforcing the EU’s leadership in the implementation of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, in particular in the digital realm, be it through a separate framework or a protocol annexed to a trade agreement.
